FuelScope Privacy Policy

Effective date: 08/24/2026
Last updated: 08/24/2026

FuelScope is a mobile application provided by Butlerson LLC (“Butlerson,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how FuelScope handles information when you use the application.

This policy applies to the FuelScope mobile application. The Butlerson website may have separate data practices involving website forms, cookies, analytics, or other website services.

1. Information You Enter

FuelScope allows you to record and manage information about your vehicles and driving activity, including:

  • Vehicle information.

  • Fuel fill-up records.

  • Fuel quantity and price.

  • Odometer readings and mileage.

  • Trip information.

  • Notes and other information you choose to enter.

  • Saved station information.

  • Fuel-history information.

  • Exported backup files that you choose to create or share.

FuelScope is designed primarily as a local record-keeping application. FuelScope records are currently stored locally on your device unless you intentionally export, share, or back up the information.

2. Location Information

FuelScope may request access to your device’s location when you use map or nearby-station features.

Location may be used to:

  • Show your approximate position on the map.

  • Search for nearby gas stations.

  • Help display nearby station results.

FuelScope uses location access only when needed for these features. Location access is optional. You may deny or revoke location permission at any time through your iPhone’s Settings application.

FuelScope currently requests When In Use location access and does not require continuous background location access for ordinary use.

3. Maps and Nearby Station Searches

FuelScope uses Apple MapKit, Core Location, and Apple map-search services to display maps and search for nearby gas stations.

When you use these features, location and search information may be processed by Apple in accordance with Apple’s privacy policies and terms. Butlerson does not control how Apple processes information through its services.

Map information, station information, addresses, availability, and search results may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or inaccurate.

4. Fuel Prices and Station Information

FuelScope allows you to record and save fuel prices and station information that you choose to enter.

FuelScope may display nearby station search results using Apple map services. FuelScope does not currently operate a separate live fuel-price network or fuel-price service.

FuelScope does not guarantee that station information, fuel prices, availability, addresses, or related information is complete, current, or accurate.

You should independently verify fuel prices, station availability, directions, and other information before relying on it.

5. Information Stored on Your Device

FuelScope may store application data locally on your iPhone, including:

  • Vehicles.

  • Fill-ups.

  • Trips.

  • Saved stations.

  • Fuel-history information.

  • User preferences.

  • Application settings.

FuelScope does not currently require an account or sign-in to use its core features. FuelScope does not currently provide server-based accounts or cloud synchronization.

Locally stored FuelScope information remains on your device until you delete it, delete individual records, remove the application, or use an available reset or deletion feature.

6. Backups and Exports

FuelScope may allow you to export or back up your information in formats such as JSON, CSV, and PDF.

JSON backup files may be used to restore supported FuelScope data in the application. CSV and PDF files may be used for records, reporting, or sharing.

When you create or share an export, you control where the file is sent or stored. You may choose to save it to a cloud-storage service, email it, send it to another application, or share it with another person.

After you export or share a file, the receiving service or person may process that information under its own privacy policy. Butlerson cannot control or delete copies of exported files stored outside the FuelScope application.

7. Purchases and Subscriptions

FuelScope may offer optional FuelScope Pro purchases or subscriptions through Apple’s App Store.

FuelScope Pro may include monthly and annual auto-renewable subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase. Apple processes payments and manages billing through your Apple Account. Apple also manages subscription renewals, cancellations, and refunds under Apple’s applicable terms and policies.

Butlerson does not receive or store your complete payment-card information through FuelScope.

Subscription availability, pricing, introductory offers, renewal terms, and cancellation instructions are displayed in the application and through Apple’s App Store purchase interface before purchase.

8. Accounts and Authentication

FuelScope does not currently require an account, registration, or sign-in to use its core features.

FuelScope does not currently provide server-based accounts or cloud synchronization.

If a future version introduces accounts, cloud synchronization, or online services, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features are enabled.

9. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

FuelScope does not currently use advertising, behavioral analytics, or third-party tracking software development kits.

FuelScope does not currently sell or use personal information for behavioral advertising.

If FuelScope later introduces analytics, advertising, crash reporting, attribution, or another third-party service that processes user information, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or when that functionality is introduced.

10. Information Sharing

Butlerson does not sell your FuelScope records or personal information.

Information may be processed by service providers required to operate features that you request, including Apple services for:

  • Maps.

  • Location.

  • Nearby-station searches.

  • App Store purchases.

  • System sharing and export workflows.

FuelScope records are primarily stored locally on your device. Butlerson does not currently operate a FuelScope server or cloud database containing your local vehicle, fill-up, trip, or station records.

Third-party services may process information under their own privacy policies and terms.

11. Data Retention

FuelScope records stored locally remain on your device until you delete them, delete individual records, remove the application, or reset the device.

Butlerson does not currently maintain a central FuelScope database containing your local vehicle, fill-up, trip, or station records.

Exported files may remain wherever you choose to store or share them, including cloud storage, email accounts, messaging services, or another person’s device.

Butlerson cannot delete copies of exported files held by third parties.

12. Data Deletion

You may delete FuelScope records through available in-app controls.

You may remove locally stored application data by deleting the FuelScope application from your device.

If you have exported or shared FuelScope data, you must separately delete those copies from the services or devices where you placed them.

For questions about deletion or privacy, contact:

joe@butlerson.com

13. Security

We use reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the information handled by the application.

Because FuelScope records are primarily stored on your device, you should protect your device with a passcode, biometric authentication, and current iOS security updates.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

14. Children’s Privacy

FuelScope is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the application.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to Butlerson through FuelScope, contact us at joe@butlerson.com.

15. Your Choices

You may:

  • Deny or revoke location permission.

  • Use FuelScope without enabling location features.

  • Delete locally stored FuelScope records.

  • Remove the application from your device.

  • Choose whether to create backups or exports.

  • Choose whether to share exported files.

  • Manage App Store purchases and subscriptions through your Apple Account if those purchases or subscriptions are offered.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when FuelScope’s features, services, or data practices change.

When we update the policy, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

Your continued use of FuelScope after an updated policy is published means that you acknowledge the revised policy.
